A little bit off road in the Panoche Hills public lands. Driveable on dirt roads (2-star terrain) between 10/15 and 4/15, closed to vehicular traffic but open to hiking between 4/15 and 10/15 (3.5-star terrain).
This cache was placed in a location we stumbled on while GeoDashing in search of Game 8 Waypoint 00884. Our review of the topo maps indicated an access road but we were unsure if it was private property. We were pleasantly surprised to find signs welcoming us to "Public Land"!
You can drive within about 300 feet of the cache during the winter months. During the summer months, however, the area is closed to vehicular traffic and you'd have to make a hike of almost four miles! So get out there and get it! What, do you need an engraved invitation?
