Geocache Description:

This is a regular cache in Santee State Park near Santee, SC. Hiding place is a bit unusual but otherwise this is a straightforward cache. Terrain makes it a bit difficult but it is not a far walk. Might be inaccessible for handicap.

*******COORDINATES ARE NOW FIXED! Correct ones shown above (with picture to prove it!) I will wait a few days before deleting all the logs about our fun in trying to straighten out the coordinates but I used a Garmin GPS 76, eMap and a Magellan 315 to all confirm these coordinates so there should be no more problems. Sorry for the original errors.*************

Contrary to many of the caches by Team Geddings, this is not a multi-stage cache. We figured that it is difficult enough as it is and we wanted to encourage more people to come see Santee State Park.

The coordinates above are the best I could get with several readings of my eMap since there was tree cover and my batteries were low. If you get a different reading, please let me know and I will edit the coordinates. Best parking is available at N33.30.975 / W080.29.235.

Original contents of cache are: Mr. Bubbles, Christmas in the Air potpourri, matchbox Christmas car, 5 super bounce balls, blank audiotape, lots of plastic bugs (please take only 1 to save some for others), the travel bug C. D. World and a log book and pen.

To help you locate it, beyond the clue below, I have included a picture of Team Geddings’s faithful cache-pup Casper showing you a swollen pine tree about 10 feet from the cache. Find the swollen tree and you will know you are very close. PLEASE be very careful in retrieving the cache and in returning it. The clue explains more.

I have another picture of Mary looking at the cache in its hiding place if you want that for a hint but I will not post it here. Just e-mail me if you want it.

Good luck and Happy Caching!

Team Geddings ADDITIONAL NOTE - as of 3-6-05, the cache is repaired and dry. There is a plastic bag inside holding all items and a plastic bag over the container right beneath the top. Please ensure the plastic bags are sealed and in place when you leave the cache. Also, without giving away too much, just remember that you do not need to cut anything nor have any knowledge of knots. A simple pull and twirl should be sufficient (you'll know what I mean when you find it). PLEASE replace it as you found it or, if the cacher before you was careless, take care to replace it correctly. There is no longer a clear obvious path, although the entrance still claims it is a path. It is not a difficult or confusing walk whether the path is marked or not. There is a drainage stream between the entrance and the cache. It is it really wet, the stream may have water in it but it is only about a foot or two wide and easily jumped if you do not want to look for a way around it. No need to get wet so if you are blocked by the ditch/stream, just go a little left or right and you should find a way across.
