The smallest of the Japanese native breeds, the Shiba was
originally developed for hunting in the dense undergrowth of
Japan's mountainous areas. Alert and agile with keen senses, he is
also an excellent watchdog and companion. His frame is compact with
well-developed muscles and he possesses a double coat that can be
black and tan, red or red sesame. Our shiba has more white and tan
colors
Letterbox clues: From parking cross the bridge and follow the path.
Take your first right and head uphill toward a bench along the way
you will come across some learning stations. The first one near the
bench you will learn about 2 birds the Eastern Bluebird and the
Bobolink. Continue to the top of the hill and head left to your
next learning station where you can read about some insects. The
Dragonfly and grasshopper. Now walk downhill to your next learning
station to read about the moose. Now turn around and locate a small
group of trees about 50 feet away. The letterbox is located there by a rock. After you sign and stamp the book make sure the
container is placed back and hidden well. Now continue along the
same way. It will loop back to the parking area. The next learning
station is about 2 more birds. The Black Capped Chickadee and
Tufted Titmouse. From here you will notice a trail that leads to
the right. If you want to explore the area some more you can take
this path and visit some more learning stations and read about the
white tailed deer, racoons, frogs, beaver, and the woodduck or you
can keep going straight ahead to one last learning station and read
about the Eastern White Pine. From there you easily can see the
parking area. Hope you enjoyed the area.
Congrats to rjb43nh for the first to find.
