CC: Low Tide at Refugio Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If the cache owner wishes to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A cache down the shoreline of Refugio Beach! This cache is for the adventurous!

This is part of my Coastal Caches series: an attempt to get geocaches all along the coastline of Santa Barbara county, etc.

A waterproof PVC container hidden by a breakwater.

If you have already found my first low tide cache at Tejiguas beach (visit link) you should know what to prepare for.

This cache can be accessed by kayaking, swimming or walking/climbing (depending on the tides). To get the full effect of this cache, I recommend you start on the shore of Refugio State Beach and walk and climb to get to it.

For easiest entry to ground zero, I suggest you go at.....

LOW TIDE!

For the most efficient caching experience, follow these instructions.:

1. Park in the Refugio Beach Parking Lot. (This might be a small fee depending on the day, but it is a lovely place to camp and enjoy the beach.) If you have a state parks pass this will get you in for free.

2. If you have tender feet, I suggest you bring some tennis shoes for climbing over any rocks etc.

3. You can check the tides here: (visit link) Anything below 2.5 will be easiest for you to access the cache. If you go above that some wading might be required.

Be sure to place the cache EXACTLY how you found it. I want to keep this one here as long as possible! :)

Feel free to give feedback on difficulty/terrain ratings and good luck!
