This cache has been archived.

West Texas Reviewer: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so the cache is being archived to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace this cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 15 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the West Texas Reviewer.

Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE CEMETERY! I located it at the nearest safe public location, so GZ is roughly a quarter-mile away from the actual grave sites. Which happen to be in the front yard of 7603 Creekbluff. Transcriptionists from the local genealogical society claim that there are 15 interments there, primarily for the Walden family. The site is alternately known, unsurprisingly, as the Walden Cemetery or the Bull Creek Cemetery, but it seems pretty poorly documented in general. Alleged dates of death range from 1888 through 1959, although for about half of the burials no dates at all are noted. Seven are for infants.

If you drive past the actual site, you'll see that it is only very nominally a "cemetery". For sure, I saw one headstone, and possibly variant forms for two others, but as the homeowner was puttering around, I was disinclined to loiter and gawp. As always, any refinements to the listed coordinates are welcomed.
