Geocache Description:

The cache in NOT at the posted coordinates.

This one might be fun to do with your kids!

The posted coordinates will bring you to Nelson Park, one of Minneapolis's newest parks, and a 23-ft. historic monument, which was first unveiled in 1936. It was originally situated in Pioneer Square in downtown Minneapolis. When the City of Minneapolis acquired the park land in the early 1960s, the monument was relocated to a small piece of land along Main St. NE and 5th Ave. NE, a move that was meant to be temporary.

It was the first major artwork commissioned by the Park Board and is the work of John K. Daniels, a nationally renowned Minneapolis sculptor. The cost of the sculpture was $20,000 paid for by John Pillsbury. The monument is now valued at over $500,000.

The statue stood for more than 40 years crowded by residential development, until it was moved to its final location in September, 2010. The statue has been an icon for the city and placing this piece of history with the downtown skyline as the backdrop creates a stunning urban picture postcard view. The park is a work-in-progress, featuring a unique parking lot, trails and access, by foot, to the Mississippi River.

Determine the final cache coordinates using information gathered by viewing the statue:

44 59.ABC  93 15.DEF

A =  the number of sheaves of grain on the southwest side of the statue. Hint: there are more than three.
B =  the number of items being held by the top figure on the left.
C =  the number of people depicted on top of the statue.
D =  the number of people depicted in relief on the base.
E =  the number of hands visible on the standing figures on the southwest side of the statue
F =  the number of letters in the kind of boat portrayed in relief on the base.

Enjoy your visit to the park.
