Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Welcome to the Lake
Denton Scuba Cache. This cache is accessible for free if you want
to swim over a quarter of a mile. I suggest you use the Lake Denton
camp access. The owners require all scuba divers to sign a release
and ask for a small donation to cover the use of the
facilities.
When this cache was
placed the water depth was 33 feet. The depth changes throughout
the year and may be a couple of feet higher or lower depending on
when you choose to dive. The water temperature also changes between
upper 50's and somewhere in the 80's depending on the time of
year.
Lake Denton is set up
for beginning divers as well as those that are advanced. With
almost 1000 feet of underwater lines leading throughout the
Northern section of the lake as well as underwater platforms and
wrecks there is something for everyone. You may even happen across
one of your favorite muppets.
You will find a clearly
marked geocache with a floatie rising three feet off the bottom and
an underwater slate for a log. The GPS numbers are above the cache.
"But my GPS isn't submersible?" You're a smart cookie you'll figure
it out.
I ask that you please
log the water temp and the depth during your dive so we can monitor
the conditions through out the year.
As with all geocaching
activities you must make your own choice as to wether this one is
for you. SCUBA diving is an extreme sport and must only be done by
those specially trained in diving. You accept all risk associated
with this cache.
You can find a ready
made spoiler video compliments of the Associated Press covering
this cache for Groundspeak.
