Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the end of the alternative track/route from Newlands to Ngauranga. This track is a gravel track that climbs to 160m above sea level (at Newlands end) from approx. sea level (at Ngauranga) at a grade of 10%

To get to the track, take the shared driveway of 23 Wakely road which then turns into the gravel track.


The track is about 1.5km long



From this cache Tunnel one of the North Island Main Trunk line and the Tawa Flat diversion which opened in 1935. Tunnel One is 1238m long.

Tunnel two that passes under Newlands is the forth longest rail tunnel in New Zealand but it is the longest double track tunnel in New Zealnand, it is 4324m long.


This cache is about 3m off of the path and is hidden in the middle of the main tree that you can see.


This cache is a 200ml camouflaged sistema, please re-hide it as you found it.
