Geocache Description:

Le château de Veauce, construit en 808 quand Charlemagne forma le royaume d'Aquitaine devint baronnie en 1400. La plus ancienne des cinq tours date du XIe et s'appelle la tour carrée. Il existait une autre tour, appelée " la mal coiffée ", qui mesurait 45 mètres de haut qui date de la même époque. Elle fut détruite au XVIIe siècle sur ordre de Richelieu. Le donjon et la tour hexagonale sont du XIVe siècle ainsi que la tour de l'horloge. Elle abrite un mécanisme de 1895 toujours en état de marche. Une partie Renaissance complète cet édifice.
L'histoire du château de Veauce veut que Lucie, belle jeune fille domestique au château au 17ème siècle, soit aimée du Baron de l'époque, Guy de DAILLON, qui était marié. La Baronne, guidée par la jalousie, profita du départ de son époux à la guerre pour jeter Lucie dans la prison de la Tour Crénelée où elle mourut de froid et de faim. La légende dit que depuis Lucie revient certaines nuits pleurer et gémir sur son sort.

Veauce Castle, built in 808 when Charlemagne formed the kingdom of Aquitaine became a barony in 1400. The oldest of the five towers dated of the 11^th century and is called the square tower. There was another tower, called the "bad hair", which measured 49,21 yards high, dating from the same period. It was destroyed in the 17th century by order of Richelieu. The dungeon and the tower hexagonal are of the fourteenth century well as the clock tower. It houses a mechanism for 1895 always in working order. Part Renaissance complete this building.
The history of the Veauce castle wants Lucie beautiful servant girl in the castle in the 17th century, is loved by the Baron of the time, Guy de Daillon, who was married. Baroness guided by jealousy, took advantage of the departure of her husband in the war to throw Lucie in the prison of the "bad hair" tower where she died of cold and hunger. The legend tells that Lucie has returned some nights crying and moaning about his fate.
