Geocache Description:

Wheelchair accessible and public transportation and parking nearby. Please be stealthy.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was intended for the following purposes:

“ (1) to provide a clear and comprehensive national mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities;
(2) to provide clear, strong, consistent, enforceable standards addressing discrimination against individuals with disabilities;
(3) to ensure that the Federal Government plays a central role in enforcing the standards established in this chapter on behalf of individuals with disabilities; and
(4) to invoke the sweep of congressional authority, including the power to enforce the fourteenth amendment and to regulate commerce, in order to address the major areas of discrimination faced day-to-day by people with disabilities.”

It has been an extremely complex process, involving two additional modified versions of the law and a host of regulations and standards affecting both the public and private sectors of American life. I remember when all sidewalks were built without those little ramps at the intersections that we now see everywhere we go. All restaurants built today have wheelchair ramps and bathrooms that are accessible to persons confined to a wheelchair or power chair. And these are just the most visible changes we have seen.

When a cache is published with a terrain rating of 1, that means it is wheelchair accessible. I can't remember how many times I have seen caches that were placed with that rating that were clearly not accessible with a wheelchair. So, I have decided to produce a series of caches that will be truly accessible to all cachers, no matter what level of mobility impairment they may have. With this in mind, you can approach all of these caches knowing that, not only can you get to them by wheelchair, but you would be able to reach the cache from a sitting position.

In addition, all of these will be placed along arterial streets with regular bus service to ensure public transportation will be available. The difficulty levels on this series will vary. Some will be very easy "roll and grabs" but others will be very well camoed sneaky and evil as possible. we all like to get lots of easy finds but tough ones can be fun and challenging.
