Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash to find this micro at the bottom of the Llanthony Valley in a great parking place for walkers to explore the valley, and maybe take in a few other caches.

The Llanthony Valley is a beautiful area with lots of history. There is the perfect example of a weeping chancel at St Martins Church in Cwmyoy, the beautiful Augustinian Priory at Llanthony, an iron age fort on The Gaer just up the hill from the cache, and further along the ridge is a standing stone Dial Carreg (or the stone of revenge) marking the spot where Richard fitz Gilbert de Clare was murdered in 1136. If you don't fancy walking, then a drive up the valley and over the Gospel Pass takes you through some stunning scenery and over to Hay-on Wye.

The valley also has a very strong community and this cache is named for a lady who is fondly remembered there. In the 1980's Barbara started a tradition of local pantomimes at Cwmyoy Hall that continues on, as well as publishing a local magazine called the Valley Views in 1985 which is still published four times a year with local news and stories.
