Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships, better known simply as:
Gulliver's Travels
was a novel written by Anglo-Irish writer and clergyman Jonathon Swift and was a satire on human nature and a parody of the "travellers' tales" literary sub-genre of the era of the time.
The book is an adventure story (in reality, a misadventure story) involving several voyages of Lemuel Gulliver, a ship's surgeon, who, because of a series of mishaps en route to recognized ports, ends up, instead, on several unknown islands living with people and animals of unusual sizes, behaviors, and philosophies, but who, after each adventure, is somehow able to return to his home in England where he recovers from these unusual experiences and then sets out again on a new voyage.
The book is in 4 parts:
Book 1: The visit to Lilliput a land of little people
Book 2: The land of giants
Book 3: The land of Levant and his visit to Japan
Book 4: The Land of the Yahoos
Despite the depth and subtlety of the book, it is often classified as a children's story because of the popularity of the Lilliput section as a book for children.
