Geocache Description:

Bison Tube hanging in a tree on an island in the North Branch of the Potomac River.

As shared FTFer, I enjoyed this trek so much that I asked the CO if I could adopt them after checking on them again 9 years later. The only difference in this one is that the large downed tree that I climbed on when I first found this is no longer there. So, unless you're 7 feet tall, you may want to have a ladder or some way to get assistance to get this one.

I changed the name of this cache to reflect it being part of a water trail. If you've looked at the others in the North Branch group, you'll see that I chose some of my favorite songs to share. Cuz, why not? This is a song from Mazzy Star that I've always loved. The slide guitar at the end is such a powerful juxtaposition on the beautiful accoustic guitar throughout. Here is "Take Everything".

Here's the original listing text: During recent canoe trip down the North Branch the Yak bunch decided to place a cache on several islands along the float from Black Oak to 956. If you decide to seek this cache a boat is necessary. Do not attempt from any of the roads out rawlings as it is PRIVATE PROPERTY! Also climbing gear is not necessary but good shoes are. The cache you seek is a bison tube hidden above flood stage on an island on the North Branch. There is no room for items. The Potomac River Water Trail: the North Branch details the northern reaches of the Potomac River in Allegany County, Maryland between Westernport and Cumberland. The area is depicted on three separate maps covering approximately 32 miles. This water trail was developed through a partnership between the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the National Park Service (NPS), Allegany County and others. The maps show access points on both sides of the river including information on support facilities like restrooms, camping and fishing sites, and picnic and parking areas. The maps are printed on waterproof, tear-proof paper and are packaged in a zip closure plastic pouch. To receive a printed copy send an e-mail request to aking@dnr.state.md.us with “Map Request - North Branch Potomac” noted in the subject line and include your name, complete mailing address, email, and phone number. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/mdwatertrails/western.asp Good Luck
