Geocache Description:

Berowra Waters is an idyllic setting and a wonderful place to visit. The name Berowra means “place of many winds”.

This beautiful spot can be accessed from the east by driving through Berowra or from the west via Dural, Galston and Arcadia. Why not make a round trip of it? While at Berowra Waters, perhaps you would like to enjoy some fish and chips as you watch the comings and goings on the boat ramp.

To find the cache you will need to go for a ride on the vehicular ferry as a pedestrian passenger and solve a simple field puzzle. (Car passengers are not permitted to leave their vehicles during the crossing.) The trip is free for both cars and pedestrians. The best place to park is on the western or Arcadia side then walk down to the ferry via the boardwalk. Just be aware that the ferry is closed for maintenance on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from noon to 2:30pm.

The cache is located at:

S33° 36.ABC E151° 07.XYZ

After boarding the ferry, find the DONNING INSTRUCTIONS located in the passenger cabin. Count the number of letters in each step. When calculating, "&" counts as one letter and ignore punctuation.

A = Step 6 minus 34

B = Step 5 minus Step 2. Divide answer by 5

C = Step 3 minus Step 1

X = Step 1 plus Step 2 plus Step 3. Divide answer by 12

Y = Step 3 plus Step 2. Divide answer by 7

Z = Step 4 minus Step 1

The cache contains a logbook, sharpener and a few swaps. I’ve included a pencil but it is always advisable to bring your own writing stick. There is also room for some small trackables too.

I would suggest you allow some time to complete this cache and it would be a good idea to take some snacks with you. It may help you to blend in if you have to wait.

I hope you enjoy your cruise on the Berowra Waters Ferry and finding the hidden cache.

PS – While you are there, why not complete the nearby Hawkesbury Sandstones Earthcache? It's an easy one!
