Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Gatekeeper!
I have placed this cache at a gate leading onto a gorgeous country Footpath past Kettering quarry. The container is a little smaller than a 35mm cannister. I believe I have been very cunning with this one although im sure some of you will spot this one quite quickly! PLEASE TAKE A LITTLE CAUTION RETRIEVING THE CONTAINER ONCE YOU HAVE SPOTTED IT. Parking would probably be best at Warkton, it is an easy walk from there but there may be parking closer.

As an amatuer paleontologist I have searched dozens of times at kettering quarry for fossils (obtaining permission first!) and have amassed my own little collection.
The limestone at kettering quarry dates back to the Jurrasic, some of which is used in the construction of the estates walls.
In the Jurrasic the entire area would have been a shallow warm sea rich with Gastropods, Bi-valves, Ammonites and much much more.
The estate of Boughton house includes Kettering Quarry.
The Duke of Buccleuch is almost the largest if not the largest landowner in the country!
The statue of Stony Moses from the Boughton Estate now sits on a old spring.
