Här finns rester av militärnärvaro sedan flera århundranden.
Från 1600-talet började man befästa denna strategiska punkt, för
att kunna bevaka inloppet i Idefjorden.
Rester av 1600-tals fortet som tillslut förstördes av Karl den
XII under hans fälttåg 1716 finns att beskåda lite varstans men är
tydligast på toppen där rester av kruthuset finns kvar.
Under Andra Världskriget befäste tyskarna stället och byggde
skyttegravar och värn mot fjorden, man kan tänka sig att de använde
sten från den gamla skansen till dessa befästningar.

There are
remnants of the military presence for many centuries here. From the
1600s they began to consolidate this strategic point, in order to
monitor the entrance of The Idefjord.
Remains of
1600-century fort that eventually destroyed by Charles the XII in
his 1716 campaign can be seen here and there but is most evident at
the top where the residue of the gunpowder house is still
there.
During World
War II the Germans instead cemented this place and built trenches
and defenses against the fjord, you can imagine that they used
stone from the old fort to these fortifications.
