An easy cache in the largest park officially owned by the Village of Newtown, Ohio.
Welcome to Short Park in Newtown. Although it's called "Short" park, there's nothing small about this park which is the largest park in the Village of Newtown. Although there is a larger park nearby, that one is actually owned by Anderson Township. This park is actually named for Robert W. Short. If you're interested in the history of Newtown, be sure to check out Bicentennial Park.
Short Park contains walking trails, a playground, basket ball courts, a soccer field, a baseball diamond as well as picnic areas, a shelter and a gazebo. Depending upon the season and the time of day, Short Park may be very empty and relaxing or very full and hectic with multiple activities all going on at the same time.
While you're here, don't forget to check out the puzzle cache located here, or the letterbox found near the final coordinates for the puzzle cache.
You can check out the official Newtown Parks page here
Short Park can be a little tricky to get to from the center of Newtown. Just remember that the main entrance is Short Park Rd. and runs right next to the train tracks off of Church St.
Please make sure the cache is covered back up when you leave
Congratulations to Grandfolks for their FTF on 07/23/11
