Located at a grassy lookout on the short but beautiful Momorangi Bay Track that begins at the Momorangi Bay Camping Ground on the southern shore of Grove Arm, Queen Charlotte Sound.
Momorangi Bay is a lovely spot on the Queen Charlotte Drive between Picton and Havelock and is a popular camping and caravan spot during the summer holiday period. The camping ground is Recreation Reserve and the surrounding bush Scenic Reserve. There is ample parking space beside the road on either side of the public ablution block.
Walk up the road through the camping ground and follow the vehicle track leading to the camp water supply tanks. The water intake is a short distance past the tanks. You do not have to cross the water intake. The track follows the stream, then crosses over and carries on for a short distance before doubling back onto the track proper at position S 41 16.463 E 173 56.578 (This position is approximate due to bush cover). Blue ribbons attached to trees also mark the spot.
From here the track is easy to follow and after walking another 750 metres and climbing 100 metres you reached a lovely grassed lookout point with vistas west back toward Anakiwa and east down the Queen Charlotte Sound.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk the 1.3 kilometre to the cache location.
The cache is just over the side of the track.
