This is Chambers County Road 268. It is very odd that Randolph
Country Road 16 ends at Randolph County road 268 to the north and
Chambers County road 268 to the south. Of course Chambers County is
a poor county, so it is full of poorly maintained dirt roads and
the only school system and road system that has filed bankruptcy in
the area. So this will be the "Down Under Section", highlighted by
the negative numbers (-01) is the first official one in the county.
You can count "Where Eagles Soar" as number 00. From the Fire Tower
to the Lake. To make this area very exciting place for cachers to
come, I have set out to make it a place you can find a lot of
caches real fast without having to go to the desert. I have written
very helpful information at CR 16 #01. Please read it, I hope it
helps make your experience a pleasurable one.
There are 160 numbered caches on this powertrail it runs from the
now unused, wasted, shamefully closed State Line Park (a beautiful
and large park) in Chambers County, Alabama all the way to the
Potash Ridge fire tower (also a waste and shame to be let go) in
Randolph County, Alabama.
Welcome to JustinPike's Fire to Water PowerTrail.

First, let's go over a few ground rules:
1. Always pull ALL THE WAY off the road at a safe pull off
point. There is one either at, before or after the cache on the
same or opposite side of the road. Some will require you to walk a
little ways, but it is best to be safe.
2. Always look for traffic before opening your door and
getting out, when crossing the road, returning to your car or
pulling out onto the road.
3. Please be aware of muggles. Some caches may be placed in
view of a residence in the distance. Do
not TRESPASS! None of the caches are on private
property! If someone is out side or sitting on the
porch, pass the cache up. Suspicious activity may result in the
archiving of some caches. If you carry a caching stick and a
plastic bag for trash, you can easily disappear from the minds of
any muggles by appearing to be picking up cans or trash. :) Just a
thought!
4. I do not recommend this for children. These caches are
all 35 mm film canisters or similar. Absolutely NONE of these are on PRIVATE PROPERTY! DO NOT
TRESPASS! There are a few exceptions, that are pico
tubes, but not many. Bring your own pen.
5. I nor anyone else involved in caching is responsible for
any accidents. You cache at your own risk, whether it be on foot,
bicycle, motorcycle, helicopter, horseback, dog chain, airplane or
automobile. If you are not an adult and are not able to be
responsible for your own actions and any accidents, DON'T DO
THESE CACHES!
6. Wear safety vests or very bright reflective colors, so
that you are seen.
7. Turn on your hazard lights and pull all the way off
the road at a safe spot before stopping.
8. There may be poison ivy, ticks, thorns, chiggers,
spiders, ants, dogs, drunk drivers, snakes and other biting
critters or plants that hurt. Difficulty may change with time of
year. CARRY A FIRST AID KIT that includes at minimum: Bug
Repellent, Plasters, Band Aids, Gloves, Sting Reliever (Sting Rid),
Hydrocortisone Cream, Sun Tan Oil, Mace (for dogs) (we petted all
but the Pit Bull at #66), Alcohol, Wasp Spray, safety buddy and
plenty of water.
9. Traffic is busy in early morning or evening during
traffic times 6-9 AM and 4-6 PM.
10. These containers are not completely weather proof but
due to my teenage finances, I cannot afford a lot. I have placed a
log sheet inside a plastic bag and then in the container. There is
NO PEN OR PENCIL. I cannot afford to keep replacing baggies,
if people keep ripping them and throwing them on the ground. I will
have no choice but to archive this entire trail. Please help me to
help all geocachers have a fun experience by not damaging these
caches. I really want this to be around a very very long time. I
need your help.
Please replace as found and have fun!

COORDINATES NOTICE: Should coordinates show off a few feet,
remember that GPSr accuracy is not 100%, you should be within 15
feet depending on your GPSr brand and quality at all times.
However, the hint should make it locatable by simple sight, should
weather or distance to next cache be in question. Read hint to find
out where to look if in view of a home.

HOTELS: While there are several, I can only recommend the
Key West Inn. Of course if all you want is a $20 room, head on down
to the Budget Inn.
RESTAURANTS: We have plenty of choices of food, I will list
the best and then the others:
TJ Rockers (good food at a good price, meat and vegatables,
good steak)
La Herradura (great mexican food open lunch 11-2 and dinner 5-9
only)
Hong Kong King Buffet (Chinese buffet, DON'T go to the other
one)
Pizza Hut
Jack's Hamburgers (best breakfast bisquits and food, closes
at 9pm)
Big Chic (for the best fried chicken in town, hidden behind
main street on Knight Avenue)
The Grapevine (This one is a drive off the course up to
Woodland, but worth the drive. It is a Greek and Pizza restaurant.
The Chicken Slovakia is the best, tell Alex hi)
Sunny's Home Cooking (Ok, this is a meat and vegatable
buffet, but it is run by chinese and the cooks are mexican and they
claim they are cooking "Southern Food" It is and a lot of people
drive from all around to eat here. It is very crowded at 12 and 6
worse on Sunday. It's good and cost just under $10. Better food for
6.95 at TJ Rockers)
We also have McDonald's, Burger King, Gedney's, Jon Boys (BBQ) and
Huddle House (they smoke in there).
FUEL: The two places with inexpensive fuel are:
Circle K In Roanoke near Randolph County portion of
powertrail. COORDINATES: N33º 03.330' W085º 13.872'
Lakeside Petro Near Chambers County portion of powertrail.
