Geocache Description:

Cache is near the river close to where the 2011 Columbia River Brigade put back in the river after portaging around Rock Island Dam.

Honoring the 200th anniversary of David Thompson's momentous journey, the 2011 David Thompson Columbia River Brigade paddled from Canada to the ocean.

In 1811 David Thompson became the first man in recorded history to navigate the entire length of the Columbia River. About 200 paddlers and support crew reenacted the Thompson crew's journey. This cache is placed at the put in spot after portaging around the Rock Island Dam.
