Geocache Description:

=======================================================
Carolyn's Cafe and Crafts, presently the only restaurant on Tancook, opened in 1995. The building was originally located in the gravel parking lot at the inside end of the wharf. It was moved to its present location, which has a amazing view of the bay. Years ago, there were many small canteens and grocery stores on the island, three of which were located on the road between the restaurant and the beginning of the school road.
===================================================
R.C.M.P. -The building beside the restaurant houses the R.C.M.P. vehicle that is used by the local Chester detachment when they make calls to the island. The R.C.M.P. make regular visits to the island - by their own boat when weather permits, or by ferry during winter months and windy days. Tancook Island, along with Little Tancook, Ironbound and Pictou Island, has been exempt from vehicle registration since March 31, 1966. We are required, however, to follow all other rules of the motor vehicle act, contrary to what some may believe.
============================================
Beach - While walking the beach below the restaurant, as well as other beaches on the island, you may find many treasures, including shells, driftwood, fossils and many colors of beach glass. The most common colors of glass found on our shores are brown, green and white. If you're lucky, you may also find some pieces of rare colors such as purple, blue or red, and we hope you treasure them as we do. You may even found some worn down pottery. Many people like to collect such things for decorating and crafting purposes.

================================================
Historical sites along this shoreline included Indian Head Point (an Indian head profile in the cliff formation that has since eroded) I added pics found from an old album. Pearl's Boatshop (where several boats were built). I am also adding an old picture from along this shoreline.
=================================================
The small island off in the water is called Star Island. My family and I made only two successful trips out there in a paddle boat. As soon as you get past the point (land), the waves get rough and start washing over you. It is always an adventure here!

Congrats To "PIF96" on the FTF!
