Nimue - The Lady of the Lake

The Lady of the Lake is the name of several related characters who play parts in the Arthurian legend. These characters' roles include giving King Arthur his sword Excalibur, enchanting Merlin, and raising Lancelot after the death of his father. Different writers and copyists give her name variously as Nimue, Viviane, Elaine, Niniane, Nivian, Nyneve and other variations.

The Lancelot-Grail Cycle provides a backstory for the Lady of the Lake, "Viviane", in the prose Merlin section, which takes place before the Lancelot Proper, though it was written later. There, Viviane learns her magic from Merlin, who becomes enamored of her. She refuses to give him her love until he has taught her all his secrets, after which she uses her power to trap him either in the brunk of a tree or beneath a stone, depending on the story and author. Regardless of the specific version, Merlin is unable to counteract Viviane because of his foresight; because of such an ability and the "truth" it holds, he decides to do nothing for his situation other than to continue to teach her his secrets until she takes the opportunity to entrap and entomb him in a tree, a stone or a cave.

Walter Scott wrote an influential poem, The Lady of the Lake, in 1810, drawing on the romance of the legend, but with an entirely different story set around Loch Katrine in the Trossachs of Scotland. The three "Ellen songs" from Scott's poem were set to music by Franz Schubert (D. 837 - D. 839; "Ellens Gesang I", "Ellens Gesang II", and "Ellens Gesang III"), although Schubert's music to Ellen's Third Song has become far more famous in its later adaptation, known as "Ave Maria". Instruction: The Cache CANNOT be found at the above mentioned coordinates. There is no reason to show up at the coordinates to dissolve the mystery. To reveal the final coordinates you need to answer the ten questions below. For your convenience you may use Wikipedia, a traditional reference book, an encyclopedia or any other source.

1. Name of the legendary king, who created the round table (1st letter = q): _ _ _ _ _ _

2. Name of the king's sword (1st letter = r): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

3. Name of the sacred object (two words), for which to find the knights of the round table were sent out (1st letter = s): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

4. Name of the magic island, to which the wounded king is brought after his deadly fight with Mordred (1st letter = t): _ _ _ _ _ _

5. Name of the kingdom, that the king ruled (1st letter = u): _ _ _ _ _ _ _

6. Name of the king's castle and court (1st letter = v): _ _ _ _ _ _ _

7. Name of a wizard. The king's friend and advisor (5th letter = w): _ _ _ _ _ _

8. Name of the king's wife (5th letter = x): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

9. Name of the lady of the lake (5th letter = y): _ _ _ _ _

10. Name of one knight of the round table. Once the king's best knight and intimate, later the lover of the king's wife and his enemy. (2nd letter = z): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Once you have identified the letters, just calculate the coordinates (according to the rule: A=1, B=2, C=3 etc.). The checksum of all ten numbers is 40. The cache is located and hidden here:

? = N47° qr.s(t+3)(u+6) E008° vw.(x-2)(y-3)(z+7)

Once you have calculated the final coordinates you may rush to the spot. You may get there easily by car, public transport, passenger boat, or by bike. The terrain is suitable for children of all ages. GPS works excellently. The container is large enough to drop trackables.
