The first in the Off The Beaten track series, where you will have
to rely on your GPS to get in you in the right location. The Burns
edition is a regular sized bucket placed approx. 100m off the Burns
track. A good hike and bush bash should be expected!
The Pipeline track starts at S45 47.779 E170 30.818 and the turn
off to Burns is clearly signposted a little way along.
My suggestion would be to plan to do the Burns - Rustlers -
Pipeline curcuit (about 2 - 3 hours return). On this circuit you
can collect
Kashmir,
Pipers Lament,
Weirly Interesting Three and, with a short detour from Burns
Saddle,
Fergusons Creek.
Warning - You are strongly advised to mark a waypoint before
leaving the track so you can find your way out again!
It would also be wise to remember that the weather can change
suddenly in this area so make sure you are prepared!
This series hopes to bring a little more challenge into cache
hunting and a little more reliance on that wonderful tool...the
GPS...and your ability to find a needle in a haystack.
