How many times have you
traveled Hwy 62 and never knew this park
existed??
The North Fork Dam
Recreation Area is operated by Pacific Power. It is an open to the
public day-use area with picnic tables, barbecues, fire rings and
an outhouse. You can fish for rainbow and brook trout in the lake
that is fed by the Rogue River and the Red Blanket canal, or you
can hike the trail along the lake and join up to the Rogue River
Trail for a longer hike.
At the dam, part of the
Rogue River is diverted into a canal which leads to a forebay and
then into the penstock tubes to generate power before the water is
dumped back into the river above Lost Creek
Reservoir.
Take some time, walk around
the park and down the trail to find the cache. It is a small peanut
butter jar with a log and couple trade items. You may have to use
stealth if there are people fishing. Please rehide well so muggles
don’t find it.
