Geocache Description:

June 22, 2011 is the one year anniversary of Harley's surgery. He and Missy are celebrating how well he recovered from the surgery. He had a Hemilaminectomy T13-L1 right, and a Fenestration T11-12 to L3-4. A Hemilaminectomy is the surgical removal of a vertebral lamina on one side only. Fenestration is an operation to cut an opening in the vertebral bone to remove the disc without creating an unstable spine. Harley came home two days after surgery on four medications and needed two weeks of cage rest. The medications made him drowsy, so the cage rest was easy. I was given a DVD showing me how to give him Range of Motion exercises while on cage rest. Harley is lucky. Sometimes this surgery is not successful and the dog's hind legs are paralyzed. If this was the case, I would have gotten Harley a doggie wheelchair!! Thank you Dr. Anne E. Chauvet of Sarasota for helping Harley and giving him back his old way of life again! Congratulations to Lehigh Mafia for First to Find!!
