Geocache Description:

GUNPOWDER PLOT

A series of caches which form a loop, of a little over 2 miles, around the historic village of Ashby St. Ledgers. This cache and number #1 can also be done as a ‘cache and dash’.

The series will take you to five locations with a bonus cache if you wish to use the clues.

The loop takes you past a timbered Gatehouse near to the Church and Manor which was used to plan the Gunpowder Plot. Robert Catesby, a leading figure in the Gunpowder Plot stayed at the Manor with his Mother on his flight from London.

Parts of the Church date back to 1300’s where you can see medieval and Georgian wall paintings which were uncovered in the 70’s. Throughout the village you will be able to see many houses which were designed or altered by the famous architect, Edwin Lutyens. For more info: www.;ashbystledgers.info or www.ashby-st-ledgers-church.info

The caches are mostly 35mm canisters. Take note of the code in each cache to enable you to make your way to the Bonus.

Parking is available throughout the village but please be sensitive to the residents. We would suggest the middle of the village at N52 18 521, W001 09 905 for the loop which begins by road.
