---Kahuku Shrimp---
While driving around the island, you won't want to miss picking up a delicious lunch at a shrimp truck on the North Shore of O'ahu. A well-known shrimp aquaculture farm is located near the town of Kahuku but you will also find shrimp meals for sale in several other places (often food trucks) along Kamehameha Highway between Kualoa and Hale'iwa.
Shrimp plates are usually served with two scoops of rice, and sometimes with macaroni salad, green salad, pineapple, or lemon slices. Plain unadorned shrimp is available, but the most popular shrimp plates have garlic, lemon butter, hot and spicy, sweet and spicy, or a soy-based sauce.
It’s all delicious, but the shrimp is usually unpeeled and very messy to eat so be sure get several napkins. Some shrimp truck locations have picnic tables and the added ambiance of Hawaiian music in the background.
