Geocache Description:

Basically a drive by cache in the busy village of Claughton. Accessible by wheelchair but might have difficulty retrieving cache. A disguised magnetic vile.

St Bedes Community Hall The Building itself had an interesting history, St Bede’s Parish Hall, Upton Road was originally erected by private owners as a place of worship for the Plymouth Brethren 1885 - The Vicar of Bidston rented the room at the rear of the building (current chapel) and opened an “Infants Day School” 1887 - The Vicar of Bidston and a committee purchased the building for £800, renovated it and made it a “Chapel-of-Ease” to Bidston Parish Church. 1888 - The Chapel-of-ease was “Licensed” for worship by the Bishop of Chester. Up until 1910 - baptisms where registered at Bidston 1911 - St. Bedes & All Saints amalgamated into one Parish 1913 - A new temporary Church of St Bedes was built at Park Road West/Forest Road and was opened and licences by the bishop of Chester. As a mission church in All Saints Parish. Old St Bedes became “St Bedes Hall”. 1941 - The New St Bedes was damaged in the Second World War air raids and closed. 1960 - The current St Bedes Chapel was dedicated by the Bishop of Chester 2007 - After £250,000 refurbishment, St Bede’s Community Centre was opened by Birkenhead MP Frank Field. St Bede’s now has a new kitchen and toilets (including facilities for disabled users), a new meeting room, store rooms, new heating and a new and more accessible entrance lobby. Claughton Village can be quite a busy area with the local 6th Form College and local businesses. The cache is hidden off the main road, but still quite close, so stealth will be required, but is shouldn’t be too hard to find. Tic-tac has frequented since 22nd April 1987, since Rainbow and herself formed the 9th Birkenhead Beaver Colony. As this is our first Hide constructive criticism will be gladly received. Congratulations to the Langfords for their First to Find in Muggler Central at 2pm on a weekday
