These have supplied the Newlands breweries since the 1700’s, according to the Newlands Residents Association. The Kommetjie and Newlands springs are the brewer's prized water sources, having low alkalinity, low mineral content & no contaminants. The latter day spring house has been replaced by a concrete cap.
Another spring house of the same design remains at approx. -33° 58' 18.48", +18° 26' 50.12" near the Newlands Forest Station, which cachers will pass, sooner or later, on their way to the nearby forest caches.
