Following the former railway along the Biddulph Valley, The Way is a 4.5 mile flat surfaced path making it suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Originally a branch of the North Staffordshire Railway or "Knotty" it has an interesting combination of features such as embankments, cuttings, small copses, hedgerows and ditches which encourage a wide diversity of wildlife.
The Biddulph Valley Way lies just west of the town of Biddulph, situated in the north west area of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Passing close to the urban dwellings of Biddulph, the Biddulph Valley Way provides an ideal and easy way to get into the countryside surrounding Biddulph. The Way links into the countryside through a network of Public Rights of Way and having an elevated position on the west side of the Biddulph Valley, a clear day will provide views across the valley towards Lask Edge or the Wickenstones. The Way is a fitting memorial to Biddulph's industrial past. Built as a mineral line to take iron and coal products out of the valley a walk or ride along the Way can remind us of our tremendous industrial heritage built from coal from the North Staffordshire Coal Field.
Please be careful as there is some deep water nearby.
