The Iron Blow Lookout on Gormanston Hill was the very first local gold mine made a fortune not from gold but from the copper in the ore that continues to be Queenstown's principal product.
Turn off the Lyell Highway and drive up to the lookout carpark. Enjoy the views from the viewing platform and then have a look around the carpark for the cache. You do not have to climb over any fences or leave the carpark to find it.
