Geocache Description:

According to the maps, Johnson Cemetery should be around here somewhere. However, even though it does seem to be a good spot for a cemetery, the graves have all been relocated. The following were moved from this location to Woosley Cemetery:

- Jacob Johnson, May 16, 1819-August 25, 1870
- John N. Johnson, 42nd Alabama Infantry CSA
- Evergreen Parker Johnson, 1844-1907
- Joshua M. Johnson, November 23, 1881-April 30, 1949
- Lena L. Johnson, October 17, 1884-January 25, 1925
- Infant Johnson
- Curtis Johnson M.D., May 12, 1884-November 24, 1924
- Infant Johnson
- Frances Johnson
- Newman infant
- Bennet infant
- All 11 graves have metal markers that are inscribed "Johnson", moved from Johnson Cemetery on April 13, 1982. The metal markers have fallen, and the inscription is fading. Only the few words mentioned are readable.

See http://files.usgwarchives.org/al/marshall/cemeteries/woosley.txt for more information.

The cache is a lock 'n' lock, roughly 8x6x3, and had several trade goodies when originally placed. After signing the log (no stickers please), please return the container to the same orientation and circumstances in which you found it.

The container is located on Murphy Hill public lands and site 50 on the North Alabama Birding Trail. The hike is approximately 1.5 miles from parking. Off-road vehicles are not permissible. Camping is limited to 14 days. Hunting is allowed according to Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources regulations, so be sure to wear hunter orange during deer season.

It is a very enjoyable walk along a levee between the Tennessee River and a constructed lake. The views are nice and there are plenty of waterfowl and turtles around. Enjoy!
