Belteshazzar89: Sadly this one has been gone awhile. Given that I am on a long hiking trip I won't be able to maintain it.

Geocache Description:

This cache may not involve you enduring the pain of the old punishment of running the gauntlet, but it may be appropriate to be in that same mindset as you encounter trash and various articles of degree along this interesting foot bridge.

The term "running the gauntlet" has an illustrious history. Feel free to check out the link to the Wikipedia article for the full story.

The etymology itself probably comes from English soldiers who fought in the Thirty Years' War. This form of punishment has been around since the Roman Empire, but they were not the only ones to think of it. Daniel Boone and others captured by Native Americans were sometimes forced to run the gauntlet.

While you run yours, make sure to sign the log for this geocache, however painful it may be.

Will you run from the north, or from the pirates' territory under the Elysian Street bridge on the south?
