Take a stroll through the beautifull gardens of Sheffield Park to visit the site of this historic cricket pitch.

Unfortunately the final few hundred yards are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.

Between 1884 and 1896 the Australian Cricket Team opened their Ashes tour with a match played on this ground.

For more history and details of the scorecard of a one of these matches, capatined by W G Grace, look on the left hand wall as you enter the reception area.

Enjoy your visit to these beautiful gardens and a piece of cricketing history.

If anybody would like to expand this series please do, we would just ask that you could let Al 7365 know first so he can keep track of the Cricket micros numbers and names to avoid duplication.
