Gilham's Heath Plantation is a favourite spot for dog walkers,
orienteering groups and horse riders. Just south of Felthorpe it is
split into four areas by the main road. It is mainly planted with
coniferous trees however isolated patches of more traditional
woodland survive. Strangely there are a few Redwood trees dotted
around, perhaps travellers from the Marriots Way which runs close
by.
I have been walking these woods with my family for a number of
years. As I child we would come here to harvest chestnuts to roast
for Guy Fawkes’s Night.
This cache is located next to the pathway so there is no reason
to deviate into the newly planted areas. The cache itself is a
medium sized container with log and pencil. Please ensure container
is left upright and covered as found.
Multiple parking spots are available along School Lane and The
Street but please be aware of fast moving traffic.
