My kids wanted to watch a movie the other day, and rather than
listen to them argue about what movie to watch, I picked one for
them. I picked Cool Runnings, a good movie about the 1988
Jamaican Bobsled team, which neither of my boys had seen before.
For some reason, they don't like to try new things. I tell them
they will probably like something, and they never believe me. They
both complained that they didn't want to watch it, they wanted to
watch something else. I popped the movie in anyway and turned it
on. My oldest grabbed a book, expecting to not like the movie.
Not even 10 minutes into the movie, both boys are absorbed in
the movie, laughing at the silly things that Sanka (one of the four
bobsledder's) does. My oldest had closed his book and put it down.
This cache's title is a line early in the movie, just after Sanka
crashes a push-cart into a little shop, a scene which had my boys
rolling with laughter!
About 20 minutes before the movie is over, we had to stop it to
go somewhere. The boys didn't want to leave, they wanted to finish
the movie! We left and as soon as we returned, they continued the
movie right were the left off.
I wanted to tell them, "I told you that you would like it!" but
it wouldn't do any good. I guarantee that the next time I try to
make them try something new, they will put up the same resistance,
but by then I'm sure they will have watched Cool Runnings at
least 5 or 6 more times.
Dang kids!
Congrats to fijicat for the FTF!
