Perhaps not really golden but as mean as you want it to be, this cache awaits your discovery somewhere in the Waitakere Ranges.
The degrees and whole minutes are as listed, however you will need to determine the decimal minutes before you head off in search of this cache. The trick here is that the longitudinal and latitudinal decimal degrees are linked to each other in a certain way.
Hidden throughout this page is a three digit number. Knowing this number and what to do with it will allow you to calculate the decimal minutes xxx.
Complete the same calculation again however substitute your xxx minutes in place of the hidden number to get the decimal minutes yyy.
The cache will be found at S 37° 00.xxx E 174° 31.yyy
Adding the correct longitudinal and latitudinal decimal minutes will give you the original hidden number.
The key is to extract the hidden number first. Once you have that then you can begin your calculations on the minutes.
Here's a hint for calculating the minutes: even numbers make up all the decimal minutes. No odds!
If that's not enuf, i've sprinkled the page with the odd clue which may or may not make the task easier.
I hope you don't get sick of our little puzzle, I promise no fancy mathematical equations are needed to figure this puzzle out, everything you need to get started can be found on this page.
Note: This is not a "clean" puzzle in that your calculations won't give you nice whole numbers to deal with. You will have decimals that appear in your calculations - you'll then need to round up your answer to a whole number before completing the next calculation. I did say it was mean...
There is an unactivated puzzle geocoin waiting for the first person who makes the find - I'll email the activation code when the find is made.
