Geocache Description:

This is a small container secured inside a cambo bag held closed with velcro. When retrieving the cache open the cambo bag in place... do not attempt to remove it.
Contents are a log and an assorted range of small aircraft models as ‘trophies’ for children! Bring your own pen!
Access is very easy but limited to daylight hours when the gates are open. Parking is easy in the public car park. BEWARE MUGGLES - THEY ARE ABOUND!

The objective of this cache is two fold. Firstly to attracted cachers to a great little airfeild that has a great viewing area for the public, clean restrooms, and friendly locals. Secondly it is hoped that children will become interested in caching by finding this easy to find cache and recieve a simple little reward... just as my son was introduced to caching and still enjoys a day out with dad cruising about the great country we are blessed to live in. Please enjoy...

Feilding Airfield, or Taonui as many locals know it, has operated as an airfield since March 28, 1938 on the present land that was purchased in 1937 and cleared by unemployed labour under the auspices of 'public works' by the Public Works Department. Up until then the Feilding Aero club, formed on June 8, 1930, operated from “Parorangi” (a property near Cheltenham) where a plaque still exists on the eastern side of Kimbolton Road north of Feilding township.
Today this busy little field boosts a 1000 metre sealed runway with night landing lights and a glide slope system, and a 650 metre grass vector runway. It is home to 100+ aircraft and 28 hangars, an Air Ambulance and Aerial Agricultural operators base, and is serviced by two aircraft engineering companies.
The airfield is owned and managed by an incorporated society and unlike many airfields and airports in New Zealand there are no landing fees.
