I found this hike to be extremely rewarding. If it wasn’t
for caching, I doubt I would have come to this spot. I was going
for Knife Edge, but was very tired from circling back after
Woodstock Cave. When I got to the top, I saw the rather significant
scramble down. I decided I was too tired to go down safely, let
alone come back up again. That, and I was rapidly running out of
daylight. Fortunately, I had brought a new cache container with me,
so the hike up was not completely in vain, from a geocaching
perspective anyway.
The views from up here are absolutely stunning, and well worth
the trip up. If you like scrambles, approach this one from the
King’s Block House. If you prefer switchbacks, approach from
the upper contour path near Oppelskop. Once on top, looking back
towards Devil's Peak, you can see some really impressive folding of
the Table Mountain Sandstones in the cliff face.
