Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the usual manner along a country road. This area was at one time an area where I frequented. My Uncle Jack and Aunt Isabel lived nearby and owned a large chunk of the property to the west of this cache. I used to ride my bike (a Schwinn Pea Picker 5 Speed) from Girard to the house on Tannery Rd at Beckman Rd. The ride was maybe 2 miles but seemed to be an all day event traveling up Tannery Road past what is now the Battles Museum and the hill at Gunnisons Tannery. Yes it was in operation and the smell, well, lets say it was not pleasant. The house was a very small and modest one as they never had children and was powder blue in color. The house has been expanded and now is yellow. I remember spending many weekends here helping Uncle Jack in his workshop (garage) and swimming in the creek. Even Uncle Jack would swim and even though he was elderly, I didn't notice. He was a character and spent many years woking at Parker White Metal on Route 20 and on East 19th St in Erie back in the day. Needless to say Jack and Isabel are long gone now but I wanted to drop this cache where it seems I had so many fond memories to honor them. They were very "earthy" people and if Geocaching was allowed back in the early 1970's they definately would have loved to participate in it. I can see my Uncle making some very unique cache containers with his dog Jif, that never left his side. He was named Jif after the Peanut Butter because he was always getting in a "jam". At least those were the lies Uncle Jack told me! Every Thankgiving it seems we would be there for Dinner eating Turkey Duck and Goose that my Aunt Isabel would prepare in what seemed a few minutes. They also had a couple of pet ducks, Donald and Daisy, that Donald chased everyone around so he had part of his upper beak clipped off so he couldnt draw blood on a young boys butt! Donald was very protective and was the guard dog of the property. The stream near the cache, by the way is called "Brandy Run" again Uncle Jack said it was named that because they could make Brandy from only its water. Its a wonder I even survived but explains why Uncle Jack liked to swim in it! If you knew the Foleys, list your memories of them in your log!

Congrats to Joelmart for the FTF!!
