One of a series of caches along what used to be a light rail line connecting Guelph and Toronto.
The trail on the south side of the Eramosa River is the former right-of way of the Guelph-Toronto Radial Line, one of the Toronto Radial Railways. The Guelph terminus was at the corner of what is now Gordon and James streets, near Marianne's Park.
This trail runs through property now owned by the Guelph Cutten Club and is open for trail hikers all year round. As the posted signs note, summer trail walkers will have to watch out for golf balls.
Parking can be found at the Guelph-Limehouse trailhead (Victoria Road just south of the Eramosa River Bridge) or along James Street.
For those of you looking for a more interesting walk than a simple out and back from either parking, the Eramosa River Trail runs along the north bank of the river. You can make it a loop hike using the Victoria Road bridge on the east end, and the Gordon Street and Covered Bridge on the west end.
You are looking for a small container. Logbook, room for a few small trade items. Please BYOP in case the supplied one disappears. Should be a quick find in summer, not sure how this will fare in the winter. Best access is from the parking at James Street trailhead. Shouldn't be any need to worry about golf balls here, but keep an eye out just in case.
