The cache is a tupper box with a lot of space for travelbugs, geocoins and other items, located near to a gravel road on immitos mountain in the Athens suburb ilioupoli.
Altitude 300 m.
The cache location on Immitos mountain is in an area which was completely devasteted by a huge wildfire in 1999. Several fireman died by trying to extinguish the fire. Before the fire there was a green forest with the typical pine trees of this area. From the cache location you can still see a small part of the former forest a little bit more downhill. You can also see that most of the area has been afforested the following years. If you compare the size of the new pine trees with the original ones you can estimate the little annual growth of trees in this dry area. For this reason a forest-watering-system was built in 2007. Next to the cache there are also huge watertanks, pipes and observationhuts from the fire brigade. The gravel road next to the cache was made for the fire brigade for easyer access to any kind of wildfire.
You will also have a splendid view over the Athens southern suburbs, Acropolis, Lycabettus hill and the saronic gulf with the close islands Aigina and Salamina.
