Blackwood Canyon is my favorite "off the main road" place at
Lake Tahoe. Not that many non-locals get to appreciate it. When I
first lived here in 1971 the road was just a dirt track. My first
winter here I cut 10 cords of firewood from dead lodgepole pines
and hauled them home in the trunk and backseat of my old beat up
Chevy Two. You cannot do that anymore. Things have changed
dramatically. Now it is paved all the 7 miles to Barker Pass. I
decided to place this power trail of caches to show off our
beautiful canyon.
As usual
for power trail caches, cut and paste logs are welcome. Please,
however, do write something interesting about your time in the
canyon.
These are
not simple film can under a rock hides, though they are all tree
hangers. Some may be a bit difficult to locate, but I tried not to
make them too hard, and I tried to estimate the difficulty on the
high side. They should all be available with up to a 5 foot snow
pack. There are 29 to start with. These will take you half way to
the top. I'll try to get you all the way up there next summer.
Enjoy the scenery. It is some of the best the area has to
offer.
