Treasure Quest 1 - Roman Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Barrower: On checking out the 'Finale' cache today I found that it had disappeared and it being a large padlocked ammo box, I don't think it has blown away. I have decided to Archive it and the rest if the series from today. All the other 13 caches in the series have now been removed.

Geocache Description:

A number of caches between Chatburn and the lovely village of Downham, all over relatively good paths and easy terrain. A total distance of approximately 4 miles.

There are a total of 13 caches, along this route, 6 of which will contain a reasonably easy question,(plus a spare) the answers to which will give you the co-ordinates for for the cache Finale at N 53 AB.cd4 W 002 FG.hi0, (a short drive of about 3 miles from Chatburn). Also in the lids of four of the containers will be a number, you must note these in order for later in your quest. Most of the containers will be of the small ‘ clip & lock ‘ type with room for small swaps, TB’s or coins. The final box, a little larger, will contain a goody bag for the FTF containing a ‘First to Find’ Certificate and a non activated Travel Bug.
The swaps in this box are of two different kinds:-

At the time the cache was hidden there was:-

1. A PC game containing 6 CDs of 3 different games (never used) (War Games)
2. A child’s PC game (Barbie)
3. A 4 port usb mini hub
4. A desk top clock.

If any of these are taken for swaps, I would ask they are swapped for a similar type ‘goody’ in order to keep the theme going.

There will also be the usual type of swaps in the box, and a TB.

Suggested items to take with you are:

Pen/Pencil and paper
Phone (just in case you want to PAF)
And of course your map.

If anyone wishes to confirm their co-ordinates for the finale, by all means contact me via e-mail me.

To begin the quest, I suggest parking in Chatburn and take the Downham Road, on crossing the railway bridge, follow the public footpath signed to the right by the village hall. At the end of Victoria Avenue turn right onto a lane, and turn right again at the stream. This will take you to the busy A59, take care crossing here, to a kissing gate, and then away you go, and good luck.. It will be be muddy in places after rain, so please wear appropriate footwear.

On OS maps this area, running parallel to the A 59 is shown as the course of a Roman Road. Must have been the A L1X(sorry about that)

I would like to thank both Downham Hall and the Downham Estates for their kind permission in allowing me to place these caches.

You will find a question and a number in this cache.

Good luck to everyone
