Can you believe it? There
has been caching in Rhode Island for 10 Years!
Time for a celebration.
The cache was placed by Bob & Adena on December 16th, 2000,
adopted by Cool Librarian in October 2003, and then yours truly in
August 2006. It has over 800 finds by people from all over the
world. Brenton Point, was
Rhode Island's first geocache, and is still active. In the past 10
years, the sport in Rhode Island has grown, with over 1500 active
caches (and that's not even counting caches that have been
archived!). There are over 120 RI cachers with over 200 finds. RI
current ranks as the most cache dense state in the Union (not
counting the District of Columbia, since that isn't a state!).
So come on down to Brenton Point and help celebrate 10 years of
Caching in Rhode Island.
When: December 18th, 2010, 1:00pm-2:30pm
What: Hot Cocoa and Toasted Marshmallows Donuts,
and a chance to meet and socialize with your fellow
geocachers.
Who: You and your friends!
The event will be held regardless of the weather, except if it
is extremely severe! Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather
- and be warned - it can get cold and windy out here!
