Geocache Description:

This series is designed to emphasize some of the lesser known young forests in the Houston area. The urban micro forests planted in the green spaces created by modern development. This micro forest covers a one half mile strip of new growth abutting the Southwest Freeway between S. Rice Ave and Chimney Rock.

This forest offers the busy urban dweller a rare place of solitude in the midst of the chaos of modern life. A touch of nature in an area passed by hundreds of thousands of people yet known to only a few. Like other forests in the region it is composed mostly of pine and oak trees but contains many other varieties of trees, shrubs and flowering plants.

The wild life reflects the nature of the urban setting. I could hear the sounds of young children playing on the other side of the wall that separates the forest from nearby homes. Within the forest there was ample evidence of nesting by a number of that most abundant of urban wildlife, homo nondomus. As always when caching, use your best judgment.

The container has a log book and room to hold small trade items and pathtags.

Congratulation to outlaw101for being FTF.
