Geocache Description:

Dude! Get your mind out of the gutter! (sheesh...)

Students of global history will tell you that the Caribbean was not the only place on the planet known for piracy. The waters north of Australia, such as Arafura and Timor seas, and east of Australia, such as the Tasman Sea, have had their share as well, though the pirates who plied these waters were never popularized in the West, like those on this side of the big blue marble.

How is this, in any way, relevant?

Good question!

At some point in New Zealand's history, someone noticed that, from the side, an ice cream scoop has a very similar shape to a traditional pirate hook. Since that time, ice cream scoops have been referred to as "Hooks", and scoops of ice cream as "Hookers". (The locals use entirely different terminology for ladies of the evening) A popular concoction, served all over the island is called "Hookers & Beer", which is a scoop of vanilla ice cream plopped into a mug of root beer. Mmmm...

As part of my (mostly) annual giving of thanx to the local cache hiders and seekers who make this game possible, I will be set up at the Barr St Trailhead of the Little Big Econ State Forest, around sunset. Hookers & Beer will be served. Feel free to bring anything else you can think of that might compliment these tasty treats. As this is a state forest, no alcohol is permitted. A permit has been obtained, allowing our presence in the forest.

After the event, cachers may wish to join up for an assault on my latest Wherigo, which is a night cache nearby.
