Spitskop Dam lies on the Harts River 33km southwest of Jan Kempdorp
on the border of the Northen Cape and North West provinces. This is
one of the largest wetlands in the semi-arid Northen Cape region.
It holds water permanently and is a vital water source. The dam
attracts large numbers of water birds. A good day's birding in this
area can produce up to 120 spicies during the summer months.
