Aussie Legends and Peacocks Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Toy Hunters: This cache has unfortunately been muggled (or misplaced) a few times now and even though we haven't checked GZ for the remains of the cache, it sounds like someone knows about the spot. We were thinking of moving it, however from finding more caches over the years, we have discovered that the GZ for offset multi caches should not be more than a few kilometres away from the first waypoint. Therefore we have decided to archive the cache. Thank you to those who have enjoyed this cache and I hope you learnt something new about Australians of the Year.

Geocache Description:

To find this cache, you will need to answer a few questions about the Australian of the Year recipients since its inception.

At the posted coordinates, you will be near a long row of plaques. Starting at 1960, information on these plaques include the year of the award, the Australian(s) of the year and a picture of them on a nice blue background (some of them are blank for the years to come). Opposite the 1960 plaque is another plaque with further information which you will need.

You will need to answer these questions below by walking up and down the row of plaques. NOTE: Some of these questions can be looked up on the internet but some you actually need to go to the row of plaques to answer them. The idea is to go there and see them for yourself.

A=Evonne Goolagong won the award in 197?

B=The plaque opposite 1960 was unveiled on the 25th January 200?

C=How many plaques are there between Ian Thorpe and Lleyton Hewitt (excluding those 2 winners)?

D=What was the only year the award wasn‘t presented - 199?

E=1987 winner John Farnham came from which State? (number of letters in that State minus 3)

F=The winner in 1967 was a band - How many people were in that band?

Now, use those numbers to find the cache coordinates.

The cache is at South 35 20.ABC East 149 08.DEF.

The actual cache is a few kilometres away in one of Canberra‘s inner south suburbs. Stealth with be required sometimes because it’s near houses. This will be the first cache in this area. The reason we added peacocks to the name is because they can sometimes be seen on the road nearby (please let us know on the log if you get to see them).

I hope you enjoy this cache and please re-hide it carefully.
