Geocache Description:

You are looking for a larger black metal drink container hanging in a tree. Its really an easy find just a short 300 foot bushwhack from the trail.

I needed a new benchmark to obsess about after finally finding "CLIMB" on the shoulder of Hamilton Mtn and I immediately thought of Dog Mtn. This place is rich with benchmarks. We were recently up Dog Mtn and on the way up, stopped to look for a Benchmark. We found the benchmark after a long search and I decided that a cache was needed. You will need to park at the Dog Mtn trail head, which requires a NW Forest Pass. Head up the trail to the east and when you get close enough, head east through the trees until you get to a clearing. The cache is hanging in a tree right next to the BENCHMARK. While your there take a picture of the Benchmark "CREST" and log it when you get home. The PID (Permanent IDentifier) for Benchmark "CREST" is RC2329. This mark was placed in 1957 and the last recovery was 1959. I tried to make it as easy a find as possible as I didn't want you to have to come back empty handed. Did I mention that you need a NW Forest Pass or pay to park. Did I mention that it was a 300 foot bushwhack up the hill from the trail. Did I mention to bring a writing stick as I don’t remember if I put one in or not. Did I mention that it’s an easy find once you get there. So what are you waiting for, head out and get it.
